Technical Information
(Glass Rooflights)
KEY PERFORMANCE DATA
ACOUSTIC REDUCTION: Double Glazed Glass * Sound reduction (Rw) of c. 31 dB
FIRE RATING: As standard, TopLite VISTA rooflights are not fire rated as they
usually incorporate laminated glass, which unlike most other glass
does not carry a Class 0 fire rating; Class 0 is the highest rating
currently available and is awarded to materials that are
non-combustible.
However, it should also be noted that laminated glass is widely and
safely used in rooflights and overhead glazing systems and is
frequently the preferred glass specification, especially when installed
as a low-e glass.
LIGHT TRANSMISSION: A wide variety of specialist glass is available, each with different
capabilities and levels of technical performance. A frequently
specified double glazing combination incorporating low-e glass
(thermally insulated glass) has a light transmission value of 78%
SOLAR FACTOR: (G Values) Clear Double Glazed Glass * c. 0.59
THERMAL PERFORMANCE: (U Values.) Double Glazed Glass * 1.4 W/m²K
(Total Rooflight) Triple Glazed 1.2 W/m²K
WEIGHT (Glazing): Double Glazed * 30 kg/m²
INSTALLATION: These rooflights are designed to be installed on a 'flat' roof at a minimum pitch
of 5°. However, if self-cleaning glass is specified, this must be increased to 15°
* 6.0mm toughened clear Outer / 16mm Argon-Filled Cavity / 6.4mm low-e laminated clear Inner

KEY PERFORMANCE DATA
ACOUSTIC REDUCTION: Double Glazed Glass * Sound reduction of (Rw) c. 31 dB
FIRE RATING: In general glass is non combustible and therefore achieves a Class 0
classification, which is the highest possible.
However, due to the interlay material used in its manufacture, this
classification currently does not apply to laminated glass, although
laminated glass is for many, including ourselves, the preferred glass
option for overhead glazing.
Please note that once it has been fully encapsulated by glass, the
interlay material (which is a key component of laminated glass)
is extremely hard to ignite.
LIGHT TRANSMISSION: A wide variety of specialist glass is available, each with different
capabilities and levels of technical performance. A frequently
specified double glazing combination incorporating low-e glass
(thermally insulated glass) has a light transmission value of 78%

THERMAL PERFORMANCE: (U Values.) Double Glazed Glass * 1.1 W/m²K
(Centre Pane)
WEIGHT (Glazing): Double Glazed Glass * 30 kg/m²
INSTALLATION: It is recommended that these glazing systems are installed at a minimum
pitch of 5° (or 15° if self cleaning glass is to be specified), up to a maximum
of 90°.
* 6.0mm toughened clear Outer /16mm Argon-Filled Cavity / 6.4mm clear low-e laminated Inner
KEY PERFORMANCE DATA
ACOUSTIC REDUCTION: Double Glazed * Sound reduction (Rw) of c. 36 dB
Triple Glazed Sound reduction (Rw) of c. 38 dB
FIRE RATING: PRISM rooflights, in common with most rooflights and roof glazing
systems are not fire rated. However, because it is regarded as a
non-combustible material, glass is usually awarded a Class 0 fire
rating, which is the highest (safest) that is currently available.
LIGHT TRANSMISSION: Double Glazed 71%
Triple Glazed 65%

WEIGHT (Glazing): Double Glazed * 30 kg/m²
Triple Glazed 35 kg/m²
INSTALLATION: These rooflights are designed to be installed on a ‘flat' roof at a minimum pitch
of 5°, or into pitched roofs no greater than 70°
Please note that the specific glass used will depend on the style and size of
the rooflight required.
